The Eseltjiesrus Donkey Sanctuary is a foundation dedicated to providing permanent homes and loving care for destitute and rescued donkeys. Since its founding, Eseltjiesrus has cared for more than thirty donkeys at the sanctuary and placed many others in approved foster homes.

Each donkey receives attentive daily care — with eyes and hooves cleaned, fly repellent applied, and any wounds or infections treated promptly. They are fed a variety of nutritious hay twice a day, while elderly or underweight donkeys receive special soft feeds in a separate enclosure.

The sanctuary is meticulously maintained, with irrigated fields, clean enclosures, and regular fence inspections, ensuring a safe, comfortable, and nurturing environment for every animal.
